Tetakawi Hill

Imposing natural formation that welcomes us from a distance and that has become an unmistakable icon of the bay. Its rugged surface 200 meters above sea level has become a challenge - and at the same time a delight - for hiking and climbing lovers. Although the word tetakawi means stone hill in the Yaqui language, it is popularly known as Goat Tits.

Artificial reefs

Since 1992, the remains of the Albatun an old tuna boat, have been lying at a maximum depth of 20 meters 30 minutes away by boat, departing from San Carlos to the north, in front of the Las Barajitas Canyon. Not far from there, the old ferry Presidente Díaz Ordaz have been underwater since 1993. Besides being a tourist attraction, both boats host colonies of different species of marine flora and fauna.

Los Algodones Beach

Just knowing that its name comes from the delicate texture of its white sand dunes that resemble cotton balls, gives us an idea of its appeal. You can practice scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing and many other activities assisted by the great class services offered in the area.

San Pedro Nolasco Island

45 minutes from the bay is the 9.3-mile long and 1.8-mile wide San Pedro Nolasco Island, a rocky island with no beach that reaches up to 200 meters above sea level. Considered as a sanctuary for sea lions from California and thousands of birds, including brown boobies and pelicans, it is one of the favorite spots for scuba diving and snorkeling. Exploring the richness of the sea with sea lions playing around us is a unique experience that cannot be missed.

Estero del Soldado

Located 12.4-miles from the northwest of the city of Guaymas and less than 6.2-miles from the town of San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas. It has an area of 778 hectares divided between mangroves, the body of water and a land section with sand dunes and shrubs. In this wetland, most of the water is seawater that enters the estuary by the mouth, to then be distributed by the tides from the Gulf of California. Currently undergoing the process to be considered as a Protected Natural Area, this aquatic ecosystem is a refuge for hundreds of species of plants and animals, and it is the only place in the northwest of the country that has the three mangrove species that exist on the continent.

Nacapule Canyon

An authentic tropical paradise in the middle of the desert, where the concentration of humidity, protected by spectacular rock formations, has created an exotic ecosystem with very special flora and fauna. Crystal-clear water sources, nacapule trees, palm trees, cactus and endemic plants, are just some of the things we can admire along the way, 3.7 miles to the north of San Carlos. It is approximately one mile in length, with walls that reach 262 feet in height.

Golf course

64.6 hectares, with 18 par 72 holes, designed by Peter and Roy Dye, classified as a flat course, surrounded by tennis courts and a pool. It is one of the main clubs in town.

El Mirador
